All thermoplastic compression couplings shall be constructed from Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) Type I compound having a cell classification 12454 conforming to ASTM D1784. All gaskets provided in white compression coupling shall be Nitrile (Buna-N) and all gaskets provided in gray compression couplings shall be EPDM material. All compression couplings shall have an internal pressure rating of 200 psi for water at 73 deg F, as manufactured by Spears® Manufacturing Company. All Compression Couplings shall be certified for use in potable water by NSF® International. Compression couplings shall be used in cold water/fluid applications not to exceed 100 deg F.
